Bill Wheeler Scholarship
In 2010 we will again award the Bill Wheeler Scholarship to support research on any aspect of Nanobionics. The scholarship is to support research in the final year of an Honours degree in Science or Engineering at the University of Wollongong.
This Scholarship was established in 2009 in honour of local resident Bill Wheeler.
Bill was a very community minded person who devoted time to the Rotary Club of Kiama and to disadvantaged children. He took a special interest in the further development of the cochlea implant for deafness and our new research at the University of Wollongong on spinal cord repair. It was ironic that in his final illness he had a spinal cord collapse. He was a man who looked to the future and would have wanted young researchers with enthusiasm and a vision for science to help others have support; as exemplified by this scheme.
A stipend of $2,000 will be awarded to the successful candidate.
The successful candidate will be presented with their scholarship in December 2009.
To apply please submit your curriculum vitae and a one page description of the proposed research project to Professor Gordon G. Wallace gwallace@uow.edu.au before 20th November 2009
