HPLC: The Shimadzu 20 A and the Agilent 1260 Infinity systems: used for the purification/analysis or quantification of a large number of UV active compounds. The systems have been used to quantify the amounts of drugs, such as dexamethasone, as a function of elution time. These measurements are critical to the development of novel drug-eluting coatings to be used in cochlear implants - a collaborative project with HEARing CRC and Cochlear Ltd.
Medium Pressure Chromatography Unit (Grace): Used to perform challenging separation of the products of the nuclephilic addition to the nitroporphyrin system. The resulting clorine, with unique electronic properties will be used as a light harvester in organic optoelectronic devices (DSSsC and water splitting cells).
Gel Permeation Chromatography (GPC): The GPC has been used to analyse sample of poly (3-hexylthiophene) after the purification using the organic dialysis set-up. The instrument is used to study the degradation profile of polycaprolactone-graphene composite.
This equipment is used for analysing the monomers of light catalysed printing ink.
