This high field instrument is used daily by organic chemists who wish to elucidate the structure of compounds which they synthesize. Many of these compounds are intermediates or final targets for projects as diverse as water splitting, organic photovoltaics, actuators and bionics.
MALDI mass spectrometer
This state of the art instrument is used to measure the molecular weight of molecules, and is especially useful for high molecular weight substances such as polymers. Dry solvent purification unit
The dry solvent unit has been used by the organic synthesis group for porphyrin synthesis. The dry solvent is used for doing the Grignard reaction for poly (3-hexylthiophene) synthesis.
Parr pressure reactor
The reactor has been used for the reduction of graphene oxide under high temperature and pressure. The oxygen content after the reduction is ≤ 6.5%. The partially oxidised graphene is successfully dispersed in dimethylformamide.
